Silchar: Sabina Yasmin aka Lucky, daughter of Ayub Uddin, a resident of Meherpur Itbhata Lane, entered into a love marriage through court registration with Abbas Uddin Laskar, son of Abdul Uddin Laskar from Meherpur Kabihura. Although their married life started off well, disputes soon arose over dowry demands. Abbas Uddin, along with his father Abdul Uddin and mother Noor Nehar Laskar, repeatedly demanded dowry and subjected Sabina to both physical and mental abuse.
Unable to tolerate the torture, housewife Sabina attempted to file an FIR with the police for torturing her. However, her husband Abbas Uddin rushed to the police station, convinced her to return, and the issue was resolved through a community negotiation.
Shortly afterward, the couple had a daughter. Following the child’s birth, her husband’s abusive behavior reduced somewhat, but the torture from her in-laws increased.
On Saturday morning, Sabina’s father-in-law Abdul Uddin and mother-in-law Noor Nehar allegedly entered into her room and attempted to strangle her with a rope. Housewife Sabina somehow managed to escape and fled to the Rangirkhari police outpost, where she filed an FIR against the three accused for torturing. She made an emotional plea to the police authorities for justice.
