Silchar: The Silchar Cancer Centre, located within the Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH), is providing high-quality, affordable healthcare services to the people of Silchar and surrounding areas. Situated at BSC Nursing College, Masimpur, Silchar, Uttar Krishnapur Pt III, Assam 788014, the center is part of the Assam Cancer Care Foundation. It is a joint initiative between the Government of Assam and Tata Trusts under the leadership of CM Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Launched in 2024 by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Silchar Cancer Centre aims to revolutionize healthcare accessibility in the region. It offers diagnostic services like CT scans, MRIs, and other tests at significantly discounted price up to 60% lower than those at other diagnostic centers in Silchar. For example, a CT scan at Silchar Cancer Centre costs just Rs 1,750, while other local centers charge up to Rs 5,600.
Silchar Cancer Centre Delivers High-Tech Diagnostic Services at Reduced Prices
The center’s diagnostic machines, generously donated by the Tata Group, are state-of-the-art, providing a level of care that many local centers cannot compete. According to feedback from patients, the diagnostic center is comparable to a five-star hotel, offering a comfortable and efficient environment for basic healthcare services.
Dildar Hussain, a resident of Silchar took to Facebook to share his positive experience with the center, expressing his satisfaction with both the affordability and quality of the services. He was introduced to the this Cancer Centre by his sister and encouraged others to visit the center for their healthcare needs.
Despite its significant offerings, most of the Silchar resident remain unaware of the center’s services. Dildar urges local residents to spread the word, emphasizing the value of this healthcare resource.
