Assam University Silchar Professor Accused of Sexual Harassment

Silchar: Ajit Kumar Jena, an assistant professor in the Department of Social Work at Assam University, Silchar, has been accused of sexual harassment. On Sunday, May 4th, members of AUSU and ABVP staged a protest outside the university campus, demanding immediate action against him.

University students have filed an FIR alleging that Professor Jena made sexually explicit remarks and misused his power during academic meetings. The FIR also mentions incidents where the professor allegedly pressured students in private and threatened them with academic penalties.

Furthermore, the FIR mentions several occasions, including the 23rd and 28th of April, on which Jena allegedly misused his authority to isolate students, manipulate them, issue threats, and make sexually explicit remarks. It also states that Jena made defamatory comments about both students and faculty.

The FIR further alleges that Jena falsely accused students and faculty of engaging in sexual activities, thereby attempting to assassinate their character. He reportedly forced students into making false statements and subjected them to mental harassment.

Additionally, it is stated that Jena invited students to meet him during odd hours in private, alone locations such as restaurants and cabins. He allegedly manipulated students’ statements and later used them as a means of intimidation.

The students have expressed their willingness to provide evidence supporting all the allegations made against Jena.

Authorities are currently investigating the matter.
