A non-teaching Staff of University Accused of Molestation, Sparks Protests
Silchar: A non-teaching staff of the BA LLB department at Assam University, Silchar, known as Faruk, is accused of attempting to molest a 14-year-old girl on the Assam University campus. The incident has triggered protests by the university housekeeping staff and demands for strict action.
The victim accompanied with her mother, a housekeeping staff in the BA LLB department, to the university. When her mother was briefly at a hospital visiting her ill father, the young girl remained in the law department. It is alleged that Faruk then attempted to molest her inside a classroom in absence of her mother.

His actions were reportedly interrupted by law department students and other staff members who witnessed the incident. The matter was immediately reported to the Assam University registrar. Faruk is currently on run, and his whereabouts are unknown.
