Cachar District Celebrates 76th Republic Day with Enthusiasm
Silchar: The Cachar District Administration organized a grand celebration for the 76th Republic Day at the Silchar Police Parade Ground, where the people of Silchar marked the occasion with great enthusiasm and fervor.
Minister Kaushik Rai hoisted the National Flag, marking the official start of the event. Following the flag hoisting, a ceremonial parade and a series of cultural performances were held, captivating the large gathering of attendees. Among those present were Cachar District Commissioner (DC) Mridul Yadav, Superintendent of Police (SP) Numal Mahatta, and several other senior officials, whose presence contributed to the event’s success.

In his speech, Minister Kaushik Rai praised the government’s efforts to strengthen democracy for the common people. He emphasized the critical role of an independent and robust judicial system in upholding democratic values. Rai highlighted the government’s initiative to digitize the judicial system, including the implementation of e-filing, which will make legal services more accessible. He noted that citizens will be able to file court cases online, pay court fees, and access court services at their convenience.

Rai also recognized the efforts of Assam government’s for upgrading Gurucharan College Silchar of Cachar district into a State University, and assured the audience that the appointment of a Vice-Chancellor would be completed soon.
A total of 29 contingents participated in the Republic Day parade, including units from CRPF, BSF, Assam Home Guards (Cachar), 6th Assam Police Battalion, and scout groups from various schools across the Cachar district.
The Republic Day 2025 event was a resounding success, reflecting the spirit of unity and patriotism in the district.
