All Educational Instituition Will Remain Closed in Cachar Amid Rain

Silchar: In view of continuous heavy rainfall and alerts issued by the Meteorological Department, the District Administration of Cachar has ordered the closure of all government, provincialized, private, and venture schools across the district on 2nd and 3rd June 2025.

This precautionary decision has been taken to ensure the safety and security of students, teachers, and all concerned individuals. The closure comes as a preventive measure against potential risks including thunderstorms, waterlogging, traffic congestion, and other weather-related hazards.

This directive is applicable to all schools in both urban and rural areas, irrespective of their board affiliation or management system. This order has been issued with the approval of the Honourable Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Cachar on 1st June 2025, and is effective immediately.

All parents, teachers, and students are requested to stay informed and take necessary precautions.

On the other hand, water level of Barak river at Annapurna Ghat in Silchar has crossed the danger level of 19.83m to 21.03m as of 6PM on 1st June 2025. Many places of Silchar town has been submerged under flash flood and caused blockage in many parts of the town. Reports also suggest that water level is rising in Sadarghat, Silchar amid heavy rainfall in the valley. Flood like situation in barak valley after continuous downpour.
