Silchar: The Silchar District Congress staged a strong protest against the fatal attack on party MP Rakibul Hussain and his security personnel. In the presence of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Bhupen Borah, a massive protest march was taken out from the Congress office, aiming to surround the office of the Superintendent of Police, Cachar.
However, the police blocked the protest procession at the gate of the Police Superintendent’s office, leading to a confrontation between the Congress workers and the Cachar police.
Congress Workers Clashes With Police During Protest in Silchar
The protest was in response to the broad daylight attack on MP Rakibul Hussain and NSUI leader Tanzil Hussain in Rupahihat on Thursday. Condemning the attack, Assam PCC President Bhupen Borah led the demonstration in Silchar.
Congress workers raised slogans such as “BJP Go Back” during the protest in Silchar and demanded the immediate arrest of the miscreants who attacked the MP Rakibul.
The incident has sparked outrage within the party, with leaders demanding immediate action against those responsible for the attack.
