Sribhumi Police Uncovered 7 Cr Worth Drug Racket, 3 Arrested

7 Crore Worth Yaba Tablets Seized in Assam Drug Raid

Silchar: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Sribhumi (Karimganj) Police successfully uncovered a drug racket worth Rs 7 crore. Following two successful raids carried out in the early hours of the morning.

The operation targeted drug peddlers operating in the region of Puwamara and Longai. The authorities successfully seized a substantial quantity of Yaba tablets.

From Puwamara, the Sribhumi (Karimganj) police recovered 50,000 Yaba tablets and arrested one individual involved in the illegal drug trafficking. In Longai, a further 5,800 Yaba tablets were seized, and two individuals were arrested. The total value of the drugs seized is estimated to be worth Rs 7 crore.

All the tablets were discovered hidden inside the inner compartment of a tyre. The drug peddlers had used a clever method to transport the illegal tablets, attempting to avoid detection by Police Official during routine checks.

These operations demonstrate the authorities’ continued commitment to fighting drug trafficking and illegal activities within the state. By exposing the drug networks and preventing the distribution of narcotics, Sribhumi Police have further reinforced their efforts to combat the growing drug operation in the state.

Assam Chief Minister (CM) Himanta Biswa Sharma took to social media to commend the successful operation, sharing a message in a unique tone.

He wrote, “Dear Drug Peddlers, On behalf of Sribhumi Police, sorry to break your wild party plans as we got Rs 7 crore of your drugs seized early this morning! 50,000 Yaba tablets in Puwamara, 1 arrested; 5,800 Yaba tablets in Longai, 2 arrested. We will always keep spoiling your party plans!”

The Chief Minister also reiterated the state’s commitment to eradicating illegal activities and ensuring a safer environment for its citizens.
