Silchar: In an unfortunate incident, a young boy identified as Jabir Hussain Barbhuiya, approximately 6 to 7 years old lost his life after drowning in a flood affected pond. Jabir was the son of Nurul Haque Barbhuiya of Nabin village in Hailakandi district.
According to the available reports, the incident occurred around noon on Monday when the child accidentally slipped and fell into the flooded pond located near his home. The area has been heavily impacted by the recent flood, making such locations particularly dangerous, especially for children.
At around 1:30 PM in the afternoon, a local youth discovered Jabir in the pond and immediately recovered his body. Sadly, he was declared dead upon recovery. The entire village has been shaken by the loss, highlighting the serious risks that floods pose to communities, particularly vulnerable individuals like children.
Authorities and community leaders are urging residents to exercise extreme caution, especially during this period of high water levels. Parents are being advised to keep a close watch on their children and to restrict access to flooded areas.
As flood conditions continue to affect the valley, it is vital for everyone to remain indoors as much as possible, stay alert, and prioritize safety.
