Water Level of Barak Crosses Danger Level at Annapurna Ghat

Silchar: Many areas of Hailakandi town covered by rain water after heavy rainfall from past 2 days. Water level of Dhaleswari river at Gharmura and Katakhal is flowing above the danger level as of 1st June in Matijuri area of Hailakandi district. According to reports, major roads of the Hailakandi town were submerged in rain water since the Saturday morning. On 31st May Saturday, water level at Dhaleswari river is flowing above danger level of 28.05m and Katakhal river of Matijuri of 20.27m.

According to IMD, Silchar recorded 416 mm Rainfall in past 24hours between 0830AM on 31st May to 0830AM on 1st June 2025. The water level of Barak river at Annapurna Ghat, Silchar rises to 19.56m at 8AM on 1st June 2025 while the Danger level is marked at 19.83m.

Due to heavy rainfall in Barak Valley, many places of Hailakandi, Cachar and Sribhumi district has been submerged in rain water. On 31st May, Flash flood in many parts of Silchar town amid heavy continuous rainfall in Barak Valley.

According to the latest report, water level of Barak river at Annapurna Ghat in Silchar has crossed the danger level of 19.83m to 20.22m as of 10AM on 1st June.
